Helga Riebel
Born in 1962 in Wald-Erlenbach, Odenwald
After completing an apprenticeship as a photographer and
working for several years as a portrait and industrial photographer, I felt
drawn to distant places.
Together with my husband, I traveled to Tanzania, China,
Iraq, and Israel—where I began painting in 1991.
After returning to Germany years later, I completed an
art degree at the Free Art Academy in Überlingen on Lake Constance.
I was then drawn back to the Odenwald, where I continue
to work on my art in my own studio.
In addition, I have repeatedly attended courses at the
Rheinhessen Academy and participated in workshops at Kunstraum Mainz.
Each of my paintings is an invitation to be carried along
by the power of optimism.
I do not wish to paint politically motivated images;
instead, my painting should always be colorful (never black) and encourage the
viewer to feel joyful and happy.
